Vitamin C which is otherwise called as L-Ascorbic acid is present in many forms in the natural world and it plays an essential part in human body sustenance. Vitamin C benefits the body by regulating the oxidation process of the cells. Oxidation is necessary for the replacement of old cells by newer ones. Vitamin C helps in this process by identifying cells that have outlived their time, encourage them to oxidate and also ensuring that the withered cells are replaced by newer ones. If this function is not performed, the body will not be able to grow at the desired rate.

Vitamin C also helps in the prevention of cancer. It is found that ascorbic acid helps in reducing the growth of cancerous cells and is quite good in preventing cancers, especially in the mouth, lungs, throat, colon, stomach, and esophagus. Vitamin C supplements are a part of treatment for cancer. Vitamin C benefits also include prevention of bleeding in stomach ulcers. Ulcer bleeding is the primary cause of pain and vitamin C dosage can stop this and also prevent further occurrences. While this is not a cure, it is an effective pain reliever for people suffering from ulcers.
